Abstract Summary

The PhilSci-Archive (philsci-archive.pitt.edu) is an open access, electronic archive of preprints and postprints in the philosophy of science. The archive’s goal is to preserve work in philosophy of science and to foster its rapid exchange. It is a service to philosophers of science by philosophers of science, and it is curated to limit its content to material of interest to professional philosophers of science. PhilSci-Archive currently hosts over 6,000 items, and sharing preprints on the archive is encouraged by many of the major journals in philosophy of science, including Philosophy of Science and the European Journal of Philosophy of Science. Papers can be downloaded freely and without needing to register or open an account. Our poster will display the inner-workings of the archive submission process, report statistics on the archive content, and introduce potential users to some of the capabilities and features of PhilSci-Archive. The archive echoes several open access journals: analytica; Lato Sensu; Philosophy, Theory, and Practice in Biology, and Theoria. The archive also hosts PhilMath-Archive, which is moderated separately by philosophers of mathematics. In the near future, the PhilSci-Archive will implement MePrints, which will allow archive users to have profile pages that collect their deposits and user information together on one page. PhilSci-Archive includes a special section for those organizing conferences or preparing volumes of papers and offers them an easy way to circulate advance copies of papers. On request, the archive will automatically generate a PDF preprint volume of the papers in a conference or volume section. A conference section has been established for PSA2018. Our poster will guide users through the process of depositing their PSA submissions in this conference section. Archive Board members will be available for discussion and demonstration of how to submit contributions.
